As we head into the new year, I’m already getting a lot of questions about what to expect from the spring real estate market — and my sense is that spring may arrive earlier than usual this year, weather permitting.Of course, Mother Nature will have the final say, but all signs point to buyers being ready to move sooner rather than later. With the Bank of Canada pausing interest rate drops, many buyers — especially first-time home buyers — now feel they have more certainty. Over the past year, a lot of these buyers have been sitting on the sidelines, watching and waiting. That has created a significant amount of pent-up demand, and we’re already seeing early indicators of renewed activity. As conditions allow, I expect first-time buyers to come out strong, particularly for well-priced homes in desirable neighbourhoods. This early momentum could translate into more showings, stronger competition, and quicker sales than we typically see at this time of year.If you’re thinking about buying or selling this spring, now is a great time to start planning — whether that means preparing your home for market or getting fully pre-approved and ready to act.As always, I’m happy to chat about what this could mean for you and your specific goals.
